The Independent Sales organization within our Garden Segment is seeking a regional Business Development Manager to execute sales programs for our Pennington forage and wildlife products for the region which includes the Northeast from Pennsylvania through the mid-Atlantic, including NC, SC, TN, KY and GA. This individual will be the primary team leader for Pennington forage and wildlife products, responsible for providing support and building the expertise for these forage and wildlife products among the many Territory Managers within the East Coast region. In addition, this position will provide regional support on the cover crop products within in the Mid-West region.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS



  • Training and education of internal sales staff, retailers, extension personnel, government agency personnel and consumers.

  • Overall development of sales within the region of proprietary forage and wildlife products.

  • Sales development activities including local and regional advertising involving local co-ops, independent retailers/dealers, in-store promotions, trade shows, local and regional meetings.

  • Executing sales programs.

  • Assisting Territory Managers and dealers with preferred customers.

  • Consulting directly with farmers in the use of Pennington forage products.


IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES



  • Bachelors' Degree, preferably in agriculture, agronomy or agri business; Masters' degree preferred.

  • 2
    years successful territory sales experience required.

  • Farm and/or related work experience is advantageous.

  • Strong working knowledge of the MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel Outlook and PowerPoint.

  • People/customer management skills with ability to anticipate issues and propose solutions.

  • Ability to think strategically, develop tactically, listen actively, communicate clearly and work efficiently.

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  • 60% travel required, including some weekends to attend/participate in regional meetings, trade shows, and other Company events.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
